Wendy Barnett

Head of Clinical and Professional Services

Wendy Barnett is Head of Clinical and Professional Services for Pet Blood Bank, and her role involves looking after the legislated side of our organisation to maintain the Veterinary Medicine Directorate license along with promoting good transfusion practice amongst the UK veterinary profession.  Wendy knows first-hand how important it is to have blood available post the birth of her son "Austin" in 2010. Outside of work Wendy enjoys spending time with her family and looking after an ever increasing menagerie which includes blood donor Fergus the Ferret!

 

Jenny Walton BVM&S MRCVS

Veterinary Supervisor

Jenny qualified from the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies in 1998. She spent 4 years in mixed practice in Yorkshire and Northumberland prior to moving into the field of Emergency and Critical care. She spent 4 years at Gateshead Vets Now and moved to the  Middlesbrough Vets Now clinic in October 2006. Through her seat on the Vets Now clinical board she headed up the Vets Now blood trial donor project and is now Veterinary supervisor for Pet Blood Bank UK.  Currently she divides her time between working at the Middlesbrough ECC clinic and Pet Blood Bank UK.  Her veterinary supervisor role at Pet Blood Bank involves supervision of collection sessions, training and managing staff and ongoing research in the veterinary blood banking and transfusion medicine field.

Out of work she likes to be at home with her two daughters, dogs, chickens, ferrets and horses, or outside riding, running, skiing or gardening.

 

Vanessa Ashall

Veterinary Welfare and Ethics Advisor

Vanessa Ashall is the Veterinary Ethics and Welfare Supervisor for Pet Blood Bank. A veterinary surgeon with 10 years clinical experience she holds the RCVS Certificate in Welfare Science, Ethics and Law. Vanessa's role involves ensuring donor welfare is prioritized and company ethics are upheld by defining company policy and training staff. In addition Vanessa regularly supervises blood collection sessions.

 

Sam Hales

Product and Sales Coordinator

"I have been working for the Pet Blood Bank for just over 2 years and am currently the Product and Sales Coordinator. I also work as a locum receptionist at Derby Vets Now clinic so I have witnessed the use of our products and how it helps ill dogs recover. I have a 6½ year old Rottweiler/GSD cross called Apollo who is a blood donor and has been since the Blood Bank launched in 2007."
