An exciting and unique opportunity for an Animal Care Assistant based within Pet Blood Bank UK in Loughborough. Role Summary As an Animal Care Assistant your role would involve a variety of different tasks mainly ensuring blood donations are performed following the correct procedures. You will also be required to assist with the canine blood collection which will involve pre and post donor checks, completion of relevant paperwork and ensure both the canine and owner are at ease. This role provides a unique opportunity to combine your interest in the veterinary profession with the opportunity to enjoy variety, a great team culture and the work/life balance you seek. Role Requirements As well as a keen interest delivering exceptional animal care, you will have or be studying towards the NVQ Level 2 in Small Animal Care. You must also have a full UK driving license. You will have good communication & customer care skills and be a good team player. Experience of domestic animal care and from working in the animal care/welfare industry would be desirable. Clinic Description Pet Blood Bank is a charity which provides a national canine blood bank open to all UK veterinary practitioners. Just like the human blood service, Pet Blood Bank collects blood from donors at organised collection sessions. The blood is then processed into packed red blood cells and fresh plasma and supplied to veterinary practices across the UK. This means vets have blood products on hand when they need it most to provide transfusions during surgery or to treat major traumas and disease. Working Pattern The working days would be Tuesdays and Thursdays and alternate Saturdays and Sundays, the hours would be dependent on where the blood drive will be but will be on average 10 hours per day.
