Nickie Torbet got in touch via Facebook to thank us for helping her beloved Kassie in her time of need.
"Kassie is a 7 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and was the only pup from her litter who survived. She is the only pet I have and I live alone, so we have developed a very strong bond over the years. Sadly, I know her life is fragile as she has a number of ongoing health problems, which require careful management so her quality of life isn't impacted.
However, in May this year, a vet noticed a mild heart murmur and then a week later, she developed Auto Immune Haemolytic Anaemia (AIHA). She was so weak she couldn't stand up and the vet promptly tested her blood and took action with an emergency blood transfusion, without which she would have died. It took a second transfusion a couple of days later, and you wouldn't think she was the same dog now! Her veterinary care was second to none and without Pet Blood Bank UK, there wouldn't have been much they could do.
"Thank you" is such a small word and seems inadequate but I can never properly express how grateful I am that PBB exists and how fast we were able to get blood when she needed it most."
We have since managed to reunite Kassie with her donors, Hudson and Frank. Click here to hear from them.
