Kate and her colleague, Brian Hildick-Smith, are 2 vets at the Rowe Veterinary Group in Bristol. As veterinary professionals, Brian and Kate have used Pet Blood Bank's invaluable services a few times and felt they wanted to give something back. In addition, they are aware that Pet Blood Bank are looking into setting up feline blood banking and would like to support us do this. In a very generous (and adventurous!) gesture, Brain and Kate will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa in February 2012, and hope to reach the summit at sunrise on Sunday 5th February. It will be a completely self-funded trip, which means that all the money raised will be divided between their 2 chosen charities: Pet Blood Blank and Macmillan Cancer Support. Kate and Brian are aiming to raise £2500 for each charity and hopefully alot more.
Brian and Kate are currently 'in training' which has and will involve climbing some of the main peaks in England, Wales and Scotland. So far, they have climbed Pen y fan and Sugar loaf Mountain in the Brecon Beacons and have trips planned to Scotland to climb Ben Nevis in October, North Wales to climb Snowdon in November and also the Lake District. In addition they are walking the 105 mile length of the Cotswold Way. Brian and Kate are trying to get many of their colleagues at the Rowe Veterinary Practice to join them in their training!!
Brian and Kate have set up a JustGiving page for donations for their sponsored climb - http://www.justgiving.com/Kate-and-Brian.
You can also follow them on Twitter to keep up to date with all their fantastic training efforts!
