Pet Blood Bank uk is very aware that cats need blood too.  A pilot project, funded by the Waltham Foundation and led by  Vanessa Ashall, Pet Blood Bank uk's Ethics and Welfare Supervisor, has been underway looking into various collection methods.  A conclusion to this project is due for publication in 2011.  It is hoped that in the future Pet Blood Bank uk will be able to provide feline blood products.  Until this time, veterinary practioners have several options open to them:

Look at building an in-house data base of potential feline emergency donors from assisting clientele, preferably pre-blood typed and screened.
