PBBuk is a truly national service and the blood products are available to veterinary practices across the UK for both emergency and pre-planned transfusions. The opportunity to order these products ensures that all veterinary practices can be permanently stocked with blood products, so when a transfusion needs to be carried out the blood product will already be on site and instantly accessible.

Blood products are extremely fragile and ensuring they arrive at your practice in perfect condition is imperative to PBBuk.  To ensure safe transportation we monitor temperature during transit of our products using data loggers.  We also have bespoke plasma protection bags to ensure our plasma products arrive safely as these products can be brittle, along with bespoke cool bags for our whole blood and packed red blood cells.
We use cardboard boxes with polystyrene inserts for protection and insulation along with the desired amount of coolant for the product.

Refrigerated and frozen products are shipped in separate boxes and the boxes will indicate if refrigeration or freezing is required on receipt of your delivery. We also supply product information that will provide advice on storage and use of the product.

It is standard for blood to be sent by overnight courier.  We ship routinely from Monday to Thursday for next day delivery.  However if the situation occurs that blood is required in a shorter time frame PBBuk will endeavour to assist with the supply.  In emergency situations please contact PBBuk by telephone to discuss your requirements.
