Hello and welcome to Pet Blood Bank. We’re so happy to hear you are considering registering your dog to become a lifesaver. This page gives a quick summary of all you need to know.

What is Pet Blood Bank?

Just like we have our human blood service, Pet Blood Bank exists to help save the lives of pets in need by providing a blood service for vets.

We run donation sessions across the country where you can bring your much loved companion to give blood. The blood is taken to our processing centre in Loughborough where it is separated into different products. It is then stored and sent out to vets when they need it.

We operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure blood is always available.

Blood helps to save the lives of thousands of dogs every year.

What dogs can donate?

For your dog to be a blood donor, they must meet certain criteria. Your dog’s welfare is always our priority and so for them to become a lifesaver, they must be:

  • Fit and healthy
  • Between one and eight years old
  • Weigh more than 25kg
  • Confident and enjoy meeting new people
  • Have never travelled outside of the UK and Ireland
  • Not on any medication

Where can you find us?

We run sessions across the country on a regular basis and you can see all our locations by clicking the tab further down.

Not for your dog? You can also help in other ways

As a small charity, we rely on the support of wonderful people to fundraise, volunteer, and raise awareness for us. If there isn’t a session near you yet or your dog is unable to donate, helping us in other ways still makes a huge difference.
