The role

Animal charity Pet Blood Bank UK is recruiting for the position of Finance Assistant. The role is primarily concerned with processing financial transactions of the charity as agreed with the Finance Officer and keeping the Accounts Receivable ledger within specified targets.


Launched in 2007, Pet Blood Bank UK is the only charity that provides a blood bank service for all vets across the UK. As part of our charitable remit, our aim is to advance animal health and welfare and to relieve suffering by providing quick and convenient access to blood. Every unit of blood helps save up to four other lives, saving thousands of lives every year.

What you’ll do
  • Using Sage 50, post cash received from customers and reconcile bank account balances.
  • Communicate with customers over the telephone and by email, handle customer queries and resolve with other departments.
  • Update our customer database as required.
  • Compile and distribute month end customer statements after month end.
  • Agree supplier statements to Sage 50 after month end.
  • Other finance tasks to assist the Finance Officer as required.
What we need

Someone who has previous experience of working in a finance role, possesses good communication skills and can use MS Office, especially Excel. A working knowledge of Sage 50 would be advantageous.

  •  Well organised
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to work in small teams as well as on their own without supervision
  • Qualified by experience or who has relevant accounting qualifications
