This is cocker spaniel Soda.

At just 4 months old, Soda suddenly became very lethargic and lost her appetite. Owner Luke realised something was wrong with her and took her to The Village Animal Hospital in Surrey, where she was given all the attention and care by their amazing team. Despite being fully vaccinated it was discovered that she was suffering from parvovirus.

‘Soda became so poorly that she was nearly at the point of having to be put to sleep. But she continued to fight the virus’, Luke said.

Soda was given a transfusion to help replace the plasma in her body and thankfully this helped her fight off the virus. She has now sprung back to her usual self – and growing stronger by the day.

Dogs like Soda rely on blood being available in these life-threatening situations and we aim to ensure this is always the case. However, we need more dogs to come forward and give blood to meet this aim. If your dog is fit and healthy, between 1 and 8 years old, weighs over 25kg, and is confident, they could become a blood donor.
