We have an in-house Veterinary Customer Advisor to help you with your transfusion cases. They can provide advice on our blood and consumable products and guide you on how many units you may require.
For more complex cases, we work with several veterinary specialists to provide a transfusion advice service. This is a free service giving you access to some of the leading practitioners in transfusion medicine and emergency and critical care.
All our advisors are working practitioners. We are committed to responding to every enquiry as quickly as we can, depending on the urgency of your case. We aim to respond within two hours, but sometimes it may take longer. Please note, this is not a 24 hour service. If you need advice outside of working hours, please contact your local referral centre or hospital.
How to use the transfusion advice service
The vet helpdesk is an online portal where you can create a ticket to submit a question about your case. The link below will take you to the portal. You will need to create an account if it is your first time using the service.
To help us provide the most accurate advice, please give us as much detail about your case as possible. Include the presumptive diagnosis or any baseline test results including PCV, TS, platelet count, PT, APTT etc. Other details such as the weight of the patient, any co-existing conditions and current medications are also important.
Once your ticket has been submitted, our veterinary advisors will be alerted and someone will phone you back. Please ensure you provide a direct phone number so our advisor can speak to you straight away when they call.
For full guidelines on using the helpdesk, please refer to our guide below. If you have any problems or would prefer us to raise a ticket on your behalf, please call us on 01509 232 222 Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
