In veterinary practice, the use of transfusion medicine has advanced with increasing knowledge of its effectiveness in treating both critically ill and surgical patients.
Aligning with our objective to support the advancement of blood banking and transfusion medicine, this exciting new and unique course aims to support veterinary professionals in increasing their knowledge in all aspects of transfusion medicine. We cover when a transfusion may be beneficial and the most suitable blood product to use; how to maximise safety in all aspects of transfusions, from collection, storage, and administration of blood products; and compatibility testing and record keeping.
The course has been accredited by the International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ISVPS) with the opportunity to achieve the Nurse Certificate (NCert), Vet Technician (VTCert), and Veterinary Paraprofessional (VPPCert) in Transfusion Medicine. It will be delivered by our very own Training Manager, Helen Rooney.
