About the speaker

Monica Augusto DVM CertSAM DipECVIM-CA MRCVS; RCVS and European Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine; Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine, University College Dublin, Ireland

Monica qualified from UTAD, Portugal in 2001. After a couple of years in a busy small animal practice, she completed a one-year rotating internship at the R(D)SVS, University of Edinburgh in 2003 and later a Small Animal Internal Medicine residency at GUVS, University of Glasgow. Following a short period at the University of Liverpool (Oncology service), Monica worked in a private referral hospital in Winchester for several years (AMVS) before moving back to academia as a Staff Clinician at the RVC, London. Monica has been a Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at UCD, Ireland since September 2017. She is a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM) and, in addition, she is completing a Master’s degree in Clinical Oncology at the University of Birmingham and a professional diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education at UCD.
