About the speaker

Brigitte Wilkens DrMedVet DipECVIM-CA MRCVS, IDEXX Internal Medicine Consultant

Brigitte graduated from the Free University of Berlin (Germany) in 2002. After two years working in a busy small animal practice, Brigitte started an internship in small animal medicine at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Hanover University. This was followed by a residency in internal medicine, which she completed in 2009. In collaboration with the Institute of Immunology, Hanover University, Brigitte worked on her doctoral thesis on platelet-neutrophil aggregation. Following her residency training, she moved to the UK and worked in two different referral practices in Suffolk and Surrey, before joining Idexx as an Internal Medicine Consultant in 2013. She also continues to work part time in practice.
