We are pleased to announce that we will not increase prices on our lifesaving blood products this April, thanks to generous fundraising support over the past year.

As the cost of living crisis continues, the ability to maintain affordable access to vital veterinary services has become a paramount concern. We are proud to play our role in this and deliver on our charitable mission by utilising fundraising money to make blood products as accessible as possible.

Along with holding prices, we will continue to subsidise the cost of fresh frozen plasma and provide blood products free of charge to veterinary charities.

‘In an ideal world, we would be able to provide blood products free of charge to everyone,’ said Katrina Wilkinson, Managing Director at Pet Blood Bank UK. ‘But the reality is that running our service costs a significant amount of money. The fact that we have received such fantastic fundraising support, allows us to hold our prices, is something we are incredibly proud of.

Among the major contributors to this is a £20,000 donation from CVS, who generously chose Pet Blood Bank as their charity of the year. Countless smaller donations from veterinary practices, individuals, and businesses across the country have also played a critical role in the charity’s fundraising success.

However, as the demand for blood products continues to grow, we face an ongoing challenge to maintain our services while keeping costs down.

Wilkinson emphasises the importance of continued fundraising efforts, stating, ‘Our hope is that as the charity continues to grow and we build our support, we will be able to continue making these lifesaving blood products as accessible as possible. A huge thank you to all our veterinary colleagues who support the charity and help us to make our mission possible.’
