The Role
We are recruiting for an Assistant Logistics Manager to join our Logistics team based in Loughborough. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Logistics Manager and helping ensure we continue to deliver our vital, life-saving service to the pets and owners who rely on us.

Launched in 2007, Pet Blood Bank UK is the only charity that provides a blood bank service for all vets across the UK. As part of our charitable remit, our aim is to advance animal health and welfare and to relieve suffering by providing quick and convenient access to blood. What you’ll do
- Support the Logistics Manager with the day-to-day running of the Logistics Team and deputise in their absence.
- Help coordinate the safe and efficient collection, storage and distribution of blood products.
- Coordinate and track deliveries, donor session logistics, equipment and supplies.
- Support the management of stock, vehicles and the Loughborough logistics facilities.
- Ensure storage conditions, cleaning, maintenance and records are maintained to the required standards.
- Support the team with rotas, including out-of-hours (OOH) cover, and provide guidance and supervision to logistics staff.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with GMP, organisational procedures and relevant safety requirements.
- Identify and report non-conformances, ensuring issues are appropriately escalated to the Department Manager and Quality Team.
- Assist with logistics reporting, stock ordering and the implementation of future projects and service improvements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure the continued delivery of the Pet Blood Bank service.
What we need
- A logistics qualification and/or significant relevant logistics experience.
- Good knowledge of logistics processes and Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience or understanding of stock management.
- Strong planning, problem-solving and time-management skills, with the ability to respond calmly to unexpected situations.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and independently, including when lone working.
- A professional, flexible and enthusiastic approach, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with suppliers, colleagues and internal teams.
- A strong customer service approach and the ability to empathise with pet owners.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A genuine commitment to the work of Pet Blood Bank and the life-saving service we provide.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, based in our Loughborough office. The working pattern is Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.

Stage 1 – Application

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a 90-minute Teams interview with our Logistics Manager and Lab Manager. Interviews will take place on 27th, 28th and 29th October.
Stage 3 – Final Interview
Candidates progressing to the final stage will be invited to an in-person interview the following week. This is an opportunity to meet the wider team, learn more about the role and our working environment, and get a feel for what it’s like to be part of our team.
