The role 

Award-winning animal charity, Pet Blood Bank UK, is recruiting for a Regional Coordinator based in the North East region. This role is part time and a fixed term contract for 6 months, with the possibility of extending to 12 months.

Working closely with the Area Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the successful coordination of donation sessions within your region. With a regional collection team comprising of between 15-20 Vets, Nurses and Donor Assistants, you will be a key person in building relationships with our venues, increasing donor recruitment and retention, and developing our growing pool of regional volunteers whilst striving to make sure our sessions are successful.

What you’ll do

Working as one of our Regional Coordinators, you will be responsible for ensuring all the relevant tasks and procedures are adhered to, to successfully co-ordinate donation sessions within your region. You will be supported and guided by the Area Manager, alongside this you will be part of the wider Regional Coordinator and Collection Team covering our six regional teams.

You will work alongside the Area Manager to ensure the region is meeting the key performance indicators set out for the collection teams, looking at methods to motivate the team and encourage them to achieve the most successful outcome for each potential donor. You will organise and manage the rota for your region by liaising with the team to ensure all sessions are fully covered.

As part of this role you will also be required to build relations with the other departments within Pet Blood Bank (PBB) and support the communication between the collection team and other PBB departments.

Due to the nature of the work carried out by PBB flexibility is key to this role. You will be expected to be part of a Weekend Duty on-call Rota (it is anticipated this will be approximately 1 in 6 weekends).

What we need

An excellent, confident communicator (written and verbal) who has a proven background working effectively with a variety of people including peers, clients and volunteers. Good time management, ability to self-motivate, think proactively and be an enthusiastic team player who strives for continued improvement. Experience of working within or knowledge of the charity sector is beneficial.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has an animal health related qualification, proven experience working with dogs or holds a  veterinary qualification.
  • Has previous team leadership or supervision experience.
  • Has experience using Microsoft Office (word, outlook, excel).
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to their own transport.
  • Has a confident and professional manner with the ability to problem solve.
  • Is committed to positive customer experience.
  • Is Confident engaging and speaking to the public and professionals.

Further details

This is a flexible role, comprising of 11.5hrs administration time per week and 24 blood collection sessions annually (2/month) minimum. Flexibility around the time work is undertaken is essential as some evening and weekend work will be required. Administration days will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday, working core hours of 10am till 12pm (the remaining hours can be worked either side of these). Collection sessions are on weekend days and a Tuesday and Thursday. Full training will be given for both the administration role and to perform a team role on a collection session relevant to qualifications.

Living within the region you are supervising is essential, a central location to sessions is preferable.

Travel is required within your region to and from collection sessions; a mileage allowance is paid for this if using your own transport. Travel to neighbouring regions or PBB offices (Loughborough or Dunfermline) will be required with notice.
