We are very pleased to say that Pet Blood Bank UK has joined the Living Wage Foundation, committing to paying everyone who works for the charity at least the real Living Wage.

The real Living Wage is based on the cost of living and is paid voluntarily by organisations that believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs. The rate is currently £10.90 and is calculated annually by The Resolution Foundation on an analysis of the wage that employees need to earn to afford the basket of goods required for a decent standard of living. This basket of goods includes housing, childcare, transport, and heating costs.

This is something that is extremely important to us as our team are at the heart of what we do. Welfare is also at our heart, and this extends both to our team as well as all our donor dogs. We want to know our team can afford to meet their needs while being employed by us and joining the Living Wage Foundation is one way that we can do this.

Katrina Wilkinson, Managing Director, said: ‘Two of our core values are to be caring and real and joining the Living Wage Foundation directly aligns with these. It allows us to care for our team by giving them a realistic wage that is enough for them to live on. It is simply the right thing to do. We are proud to be able to make this commitment to our team.’
